Educational SWOT Plan and Goals
Specialist Degree- focus AND GOALS
Ø Online learning and Development Goals
Ø Online Learning Opportunities
Ø Technology Specialist Improvement (S.W.O.T)
My SWOT Technology Goals
My technology goals have been revised from my SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) used to analyze a road-map to identify my personal/classroom/professional and future goals. I plan to use the tools acquired through this degree to utilize technology and develop a class offering online and distance learning for Fine Art elective classes.
Each online class will help students
- explore and develop technology needs for students/class
- raise self-awareness of technology goals and professional development
- gain feedback about the way in which your students respond to your teaching styles and methods using technology
- create an improvement plan of technology integration
- develop ways to keep the technology integration from being threatened
- adjust to changes in the technology integration in the future
- Problem-solving tool
- Planning tool
Summary/Conclusion
As technology advances, so will the need to learn new skills and in order to keep up with the new elements. Discovering new tips and ideas will be beneficial to all students and implementation of technology into the classroom. Technology can be utilized in many classes and used in all types of environments including business, educational and the entertainment media and industry. This class allowed me the opportunity to uncover new strengths, plans, goals and learning opportunities while eliminating perceived threats in my learning environment using technology. Personally, I have learned how to take full advantage of my talent and abilities using the latest web 2.0 tools. Technology integration has allowed me the opportunity to continue to teach with the latest "cutting edge" lesson ideas while personalizing student learning and developing differentiation in the theater classroom.
Ø Specialist Projects
Integrating technology into classroom instruction means more than teaching basic computer skills and software programs in a separate computer class.
Effective tech integration must happen across the curriculum in ways that research shows deepen and enhance the learning process. In particular, it must support four key components of learning: active engagement, participation in groups, frequent interaction and feedback, and connection to real-world experts. Effective technology integration is achieved when the use of technology is routine and transparent and when technology supports curricular goals.
Many people believe that technology-enabled project learning is the ne plus ultra of classroom instruction. Learning through projects while equipped with technology tools allows students to be intellectually challenged while providing them with a realistic snapshot of what the modern office looks like. Through projects, students acquire and refine their analysis and problem-solving skills as they work individually and in teams to find, process, and synthesize information they've found online.
The myriad resources of the online world also provide each classroom with more interesting, diverse, and current learning materials. The Web connects students to experts in the real world and provides numerous opportunities for expressing understanding through images, sound, and text.
New tech tools for visualizing and modeling, especially in the sciences, offer students ways to experiment and observe phenomenon and to view results in graphic ways that aid in understanding. And, as an added benefit, with technology tools and a project-learning approach, students are more likely to stay engaged and on task, reducing behavioral problems in the classroom.
